First, let's just acknowledge what a huge step it is to look into sex therapy. We have a a lot of stigma in our society about talking about sex, especially asking questions about having pleasurable sex. Here are some common questions that come across the MFI desk:
What kind of "issues" do you work with?
Maryland Fertility and Intimacy works with individuals and families who want to have "better" sex. What does that mean? Well it depends on the people involved. Our goal is to help minimize pain and discomfort, and help with the hard conversations about desire, meeting needs, and connection. Here are few things people reach out for:
-Pain during sex
-Lack of romance and connection
-Changes in sex and pleasure due to pregnancy, infertility, or aging
-Gender expression and questioning
-Desire differences in couples
Do you accept insurance?
Due to the sensitive nature of this type of therapy and to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards, Maryland Fertility and Intimacy has made the decision not to accept insurance from private insurances or Medicaid/Medicare.
What are your rates?
Initial sessions (includes treatment planning and detailed history): $200
Individual and couples sessions (approximately 50 minutes): $175
Infertility consults: starting at $200; please reach out with specific needs
Sex Positive Workshops: $50 (but be on the look out of occasional deals!!)
Where are you located?
Our office is located in historic downtown Havre de Grace. That said, because our sessions are virtual, clients can join the session from anywhere in Maryland.
How are workshops different from therapy?
Great question! Workshops tend to be more educational and less focused on one specific person. The goal is not to diagnose, but to offer a small group experience for participants to hear from others. We are always asked "Am I normal?" and while there is no such thing as "normal" in sex therapy, it can be so so cool to hear from others and learn from a different perspective. This is our fun approach to meeting this need.
